Our Priorities

OUR PRIORITIES

Through stakeholder interviews and research, we identified the most pressing systemwide priorities facing New York State’s electric grid.

Stability: Ensuring the grid functions reliably while incorporating increased inverter-based resources and accommodating asynchronous sources of generation. This is especially important as more offshore wind generation is introduced to the power system

Resilience: Developing strategies to increase the grid’s ability to withstand and recover from increasingly severe and frequent extreme climate events

Flexibility: Managing distributed energy resources to help balance the energy supply and demand on the grid.

Storage as a Grid Asset: Strategically deploying storage assets in the transmission and distributions systems to increase reliability and defer or replace the need for traditional grid upgrades.

Grid-Enhancing Technologies: Advancing technologies that increase electric power throughput, by enhancing system efficiencies and by extension reducing overall system costs.
